Rotisserie burner or motor dead

Two faults hide behind one complaint here, and they share nothing. The burner across the back is gas and ignition; the motor is a bracket, a cord and a socket. Work out which half has stopped before any part is ordered. Wolf Repair Denver Pros tests the two separately on one visit: (720) 702-9054.

What you are looking at

  • The spit turns and the meat comes off the rod pale.
  • The burner at the back lights and the rod never moves.
  • Neither wakes up on the first weekend anyone wants to use it.

Separated, the two stop being one mystery. Gas on one side of that back panel, mains power on the other.

What to check yourself

  1. Look at the motor first: seated on its bracket, and actually plugged in. It comes off for winter and not always back.
  2. Try the outlet it plugs into and the GFCI on it. Wolf requires GFCI-protected power out there, and a tripped one reads as a dead motor.
  3. Move the warming rack. Wolf wants it out or in the storage position while the rotisserie runs.
  4. Close the hood, centre the load on the rod and keep it inside the 25 lb Wolf allows.

If you can smell gas, stop. Shut the supply off at the grill, put out any flame, open the hood, and move away before you call your gas utility or the fire department from outside. That call comes before this one, and it is not a call for an appliance shop.

What happens on the visit

  1. The rotisserie igniter and its burner judged together at the rear panel, since a burner that will not light back there is not always the burner at fault.
  2. The motor side end to end: supply at the socket, the cord, and what the motor draws with a loaded rod on it.
  3. Cord routing against the Wolf warning about heated surfaces: a cord dressed across the back of a hot grill fails twice.

Follow-ups

The burner lights but the spit will not turn. Is that one repair or two?

One. A burner that lights proves the gas and the ignition at the back of the grill are both doing their job, which leaves the motor, its cord and the socket it plugs into. Wolf Repair Denver Pros carries spares for that side of the grill and proves the burner again before leaving: (720) 702-9054.

Does the rotisserie motor really need to come indoors over winter?

Wolf asks for it to be stored in a protected spot whenever it is not in use, and a Front Range winter is the clearest case there is. The grill body is built to stand outside all year; a small motor on a flexible cord is not, and the freeze and thaw months are what finish it.
